Welcome to Hairstyling

Hairstyling is a cutting edge, ever changing, creative industry that is in high demand with unlimited opportunities.
​Studying in our full-service​ salon, students will learn the fundamental concepts and techniques necessary to become a successful hairstylist. ​

Entrance Requirments

Student Lab Fees

If you like engaging in conversation with people, working creatively with your hands and are interested in the world of fashion , hairstyling is the career for you. Key attributes for students entering the Hairstyling Major Program are; coordination and manual dexterity, stamina, communication skills, colour vision and depth perception, respect, professionalisim, teamwork, tact and discretion. To receive the LSRCSS Hairstyling program major diploma students must complete all 12 credits along with the Exploration of Hairstyling pre-requsite credit. 
Students in Exploration of Hairstyling will be required to pay a $35 lab fee to cover consumable products. Students entering grade 10 Hairstyling Major second semester will be required to purchase a professional scissor kit provided from the school for approximately, $160.00. Grade 12 students will be required to purchase a haircutting mannequin from the school for approx. $90. 

Apprenticeship

The LSCRSS hairstyling program is an accredited, Red Seal Trade under the apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act of Manitoba and is designed in consultation with industry to ensure the curriculum meets employer's needs. Students are eligible to complete the Provincial Practical Exam after acquiring 1400 hours of in school instruction and completing all the program credits with a minimum of 70% in both theory and practical components. This exm will be admistered by a government appointed examiner at LSRCSS. Students can gain employment as an apprentice at the age of 16 and must be registered as a Hairstyling Major student.
